Green smoothies are the bees knees. I always feel the absolute best when I’m consistently drinking a green drink on my way to work in the morning.
Blending essentials:
spinach. kale. coconut water. almond milk.
I consider these things essentials because a green smoothie is never complete without a base – leafy greens like spinach and kale are a must, as well as a liquid for blending!
Tips:
1. Blend liquid and spinach/kale first, and then add your veggies and fruits of choice. Works great 🙂
2. When your leafy greens are approaching or have past the expiration date, don’t panic! Those green babies can be saved! Blend you liquid and greens, like you normally would for a green drink, and the pour into ice cube trays and freeze for later use!
3. Prepare your mixes & green smoothies the night before. I’m the most consistent when I can save myself some time in the morning. When I’m hustling out the door, I never have the time to create and combine a good green drink, so I’ll either put the needed ingredients in a plastic bag and plop it in the ‘frig or I’ll actually blend a green drink. I’ll usually pour the creation in a couple mason jars, twist ’em tight, & grab one in the morning. (Don’t be afraid if you have some layers going on in your mason in the morning – just have to shake it up, shake it up; thanks Taylor Swift).
