I have always liked to host a good party!
My party hosting started back in the days I only muttered a couple words – tea parties with my stuffed animals, pirate treasure hunts with preschool friends, first overnights in elementary school, and the list goes on… (i.e – very Monica Geller from Friends, but without the side of crazy). My mom would go crazy as I grew up; I ALWAYS had an event in the planning and wanted to host it at our house – bonfires, New Years parties, birthday, etc… I’m telling you, the list keeps going!
Now, 27, almost 28 years of age, things have only changed slightly. I still LOVE to host, however, now owning a home I need to clean, there are times I have hesitated. This hesitation only comes because I think of all the scrubbing and vacuuming that would need to commence soon after invitations were sent out.
I hosted a baby shower for my older cousin, Ashley, this past weekend. Hosting or attending a baby shower just makes me smile – how can you not when you think of babies?! It was a spectacular Sunday morning with family!
My cousin is having a little baby boy! She is decorating the nursery with oranges, yellows, teals, greens, & grays! We tried to use those colors throughout the decor, (my mom and sisters also helped put everything together – especially my mom!). We played ‘Celebrity Baby Name Game’, along with ‘Guess the Price of that Baby Item’ & ate delicious spinach & mushroom egg bake.
My heart grew about four sizes listening to everyone compliment my beautiful home. It made me appreciate the hard work Tony and I have put in to make our house cozy, warm, & welcoming. It also had me thinking of how grateful I am to have a home as beautiful as ours.
Many things in this life make me smile. Being with family, together, laughing is definitely on the top of my list.
cheers! xo
