2020, what a year you’ve been.
This year has definitely been a year that will be written about in history books. Change is around every corner. The tag line in our house has been, “I can’t wait to tell Lou about the year she was born.”
My brain feels like it’s jumping around in constant motion thinking of all there is to catch up on since I wrote last. But I also think these things could be simplified into a pretty easy list:
1. I love being a mom
2. Still a lot of COVID anxieties
3. School opening is stressful – let me just say – there’s no good answer here, period.
4. Ace is still perfect ๐
Lou is approaching the six month mark.
I dread every night I put her to sleep knowing she’ll wake up another day older in the morning. As slow as time feels with a global pandemic, it’s flying by with her.
I’m trying to savor every, single, thing about my little girl.
I love her milk breath (& very loud, smelly, milk burps). Her squeals and giggles are the most magical things I’ve ever heard. The way she sucks her thumb when she cuddles into me after she downs a bottle are moments I NEVER want to end. I love how her little hand has to hold mine when she’s eating her bananas or avocado at the table. The way her blue eyes light up every time her dad enters a room makes my heart melt. I love her love for her brother, Ace. She’s obsessed with him & it’s the sweetest thing, ever.
Being a mom is a title I am so blessed to have. I’m even more blessed that I get to be Lou’s mom. I look forward to every single day with her. I can’t even think about when she’ll start daycare, (I know it’ll be good for all of us, but let me have a moment), like, I seriously can’t think about it or I’ll start sobbing. I’m just obsessed with her, plain and simple! It’s made this time at home all that more special.
I’m not going to go into the rest of my list in detail. This post would get wayyy too long, and opinionated, and I’m sure some would disagreed with a lot of what I’d have to say.
I’ll just leave you with this:
Educators WANT to be back in their classrooms. Distance learning is not ideal for anybody involved. BUT, it all must be done safely, and that is, safely for ALL involved, (including educators).
I’m anxiously waiting for a decision to be made next week from MDE and to start planning on how I can best connect, grow, and learn with my students for the upcoming school year. I’m going to be my best, whether that’s remotely, through wearing masks everyday, or some combination of the two.
And I’ll also leave you with this:
Educators are doing just that – TRYING THEIR BEST & BEING THEIR BEST – for their students.
Okay, okay, I said I wasn’t going to get heated. I think I need a break from social media or do my best to literally not listen to the news. OR, this pandemic is just getting to me, ha!
Happy Thursday, friends – it’s nice to be back ๐
