Every year, I forget how much I love summer break.
No, seriously.
I ALWAYS forget how amazing it is & how great I have it.
I love my slow mornings of drinking green drinks on the patio steps, in the warm sunlight.
I love my daily, mid-morning walks or visits to the dog park with Ace.
I love lounging, working on my non-existent tan in the afternoon heat with some tunes.
I love afternoon nap time on the couch.
I love having time to find a great recipe & cook, while dancing to music in my kitchen.
I love that I have a constant shadow: Ace, you’re my favorite.
Summer break is my favorite, and each year when it rolls around, I truly don’t remember how perfect it is until I’m living it again.
However, the 4th of July is waiting in the weeds, and I know my time enjoying all the things will come to a close soon afterwards, [I swear, July an August always go faster than an entire school year].
Anywho, here is a quick glimpse of my summer happenings:
I’ve enjoyed another summer of wonderful smelling blooms. My peonies always amaze me; their slow awakening to the world, [I think I like them best right before they begin to open], their feathery petals, & their sweet aroma. I love how they’ve refreshed my table tops and end tables the past couple months.
I’m also happy to report I’ve gotten back in the healthy habit of drinking a green drink every morning. I’ve missed feeling naturally energized & getting in my greens first thing when I wake up. I’ve been mixing up the same one for the past couple weeks [I’m officially obsessed with the flavor], you can find the recipe here.
I also ventured back to Eaux Claires Fest with a bestie. I may be writing a entire post on this soon, so I’m going to keep it short and sweet; it was simply intoxicating to be surrounded by such talent & amazing musicians. I was able to see some of my favorites, [Francis and the Lights & Chance the Rapper to name a few], and it is a tradition I always want to continue.
I’ve spent A LOT of time with my favorite goofy, ginger ninja, like, A LOT of time. We have many talks on the patio, many strolls around the neighborhood, and a whole lot of snuggly naps. He definitely has half my heart.
Tony and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary last week. We tried out Pizzeria Lola in Minneapolis. We snacked on appetizers, drank celebratory cocktails, and tried a pizza out of our comfort zone. It was a great night to cheers to six year of marriage bliss.
I got to meet a new girlfriend, Isabella Clara Horn, or Izzy 🙂 I was also able to see one of my best friends become a mother & it was truly wonderful. I’m so happy for this little family & can’t wait to see the woman little Izzy will become.
In the meantime, Ace and I can most likely be found here: chillin’ together on the patio steps, drinking something cold, and watching the woods for wild animals, [Ace, not me].
Like I said, summer is always good to me, & I’m trying to soak up all that she has to offer.
Until next time my blueberries,
xo
