hello, 2017

the in-between

2017.

It’s 2017!

In the life of Kaylee, time usually lurks in corners, moving past me slowly, only quickening when there are moments I want to savor. But glancing back, I can’t believe it’s already 2017. I can’t believe I am 30. I can’t believe this is my seventh year teaching. I can’t believe we’ve been in our home for six years.

I can’t believe I’ve reached my last FULL year on chemo.

Again, as much as I feel time works against me, it really is cruising.

I did some reflecting, [because who doesn’t reflect when a full year has came and gone], and 2016 was pretty good to me:

I surprised my husband with a trip of a lifetime.

I celebrated another year of clean scans.

I hosted my first holiday brunch with my family.

I learned how to plant succulents, [keeping them alive is a story for another day].

I climbed the steps at Red Rocks with Tony.

I bocci – balled with besties in our backyard.

I danced to many bucket-listers in concert: Beyonce & Adele to name a few.

I wandered the streets of New York with best friends, twice!

I salsa danced 🙂

I tailgated as a Cyclone.

I chased squirrels with Ace.

I road-tripped to see best friends, with best friends.

I sat, basically court side, & cheered on the Timberwolves.

I rang in the new year with my favorite pasta, favorite rosé, & favorite people.

& now, it is 2017.

& I’m finally okay with exactly where I am, who I am, & where I’m going.

I see you 2017 & I can’t wait to see what adventures you have in store for me.

xo my darlings.
