Happy Last Sunday of the School Year!
I’m not excited for summer at all…
No, I actually can’t wait. I have a list of projects waiting for me & loads of sunscreen sitting ready. For the past week, every morning when I leave for work, I’ve been telling Ace, ‘Ace, don’t worry, pretty soon I’ll be home and we can play all day.’ I think he’s getting excited. We have our last day with students on Wednesday & a teacher workshop Thursday, and then summer is all mine.
A couple amazing moments the past week; my peonies bloomed:
On Memorial weekend, Tony and I ventured to Madison Lake [to see my family], and Maple Lake [to his family]. We took the top off the Jeep and enjoyed the warmth of sunshine.
This past weekend, we were back down in Madison Lake to celebrate my grandma’s 85th birthday. Her actual birthday was in January, but she flies south in the winter, so my dad and his siblings decided we should all celebrate when she’s back home for the summer. It was a love filled party, sprinkled with photos of her when she was young, sweet treats, and pulled pork sandwiches. It was awesome to see some of my cousins, some of which I haven’t seen in years, and visit with my aunts and uncles.
Today, I met a bestie for brunch at Copper Hen in Minneapolis – take a visit if you’ve never been! – & we got to talking about the concept of being present. She had just finished up listening to me ramble on about life’s haves and have not’s, and she reminded me, instead of dwelling and wanting, to be present in life’s moments. She reminded me to stop thinking of two steps ahead or what phase should come next, and to simply enjoy what life is handing me now.
Of course this wasn’t new information, I’ve been told many times before to be patient & to enjoy life, but it’s always good to be reminded, especially by a good friend. I’m thankful I have such a positive person in my life, one who plays devils advocate, [which in turn, makes me grow as a person, recognizing the other side much more than I used to], who’s compassionate, and who always listens first.
It made ending the day watching Ace chase bubbles that much more amazing.
Some things on the docket for the week:
Monday: Friends, Pizza, & a Baby

Friday: I’m crossing my fingers for a date night with Tony
Off I go, to snuggle with Ace-Man, & root for a Golden State victory! xo
