Step outside. Let the sun hit your face. Listen to birds in the trees or a neighbor child laughing. Feel the light tickle of a breeze on your cheek. Taste the crisp air.
One goal I have had for myself is to find happiness in the little things. I have been told multiple times to relax, enjoy life, blah, blah, blah. But how can I get there? I want my peaceful mind back; to cross the finish line, I need to start practicing ways to get there.
One of the practices for a peaceful mind is to enjoy the natural beauty I’m surrounded by daily. I have found oodles of happiness in my flowers, especially since my grandma passed. My peonies, fuchsias, and hydrangeas connect me to her. This spring, I have stopped to smell these little bits of heaven multiple times, (take time to stop and smell the roses! or peonies in my case :)). Let your mind find the wondrous elements we so quickly take for granted.
I love watching the clouds roll gently in the sky. I have enjoyed staring at our giant-like trees and watching the branches sway to the rhythm of the wind. Today, I sat on our patio and just listened to the sounds from the woods. I listened to birds sing to one another. I heard a woodpecker hard at work. I heard Ace sniffing out gophers in the wood pile.
It is nice to forget the world.
