music baths & ace

wellness

Have you ever allowed yourself to get totally engrossed in a favorite song? Currently, my status is known as taking a music bath.

I am not sitting a bathtub. Music baths can be wherever the mood hits. Most times, for me, it’s on our patio. This is where I’ll spend most of my summer days with Ace.

I have Bon Iver singing as loud as they can possibly sing. While taking a music bath a major rule is to forget everything. It doesn’t do anybody any good while taking a music bath if you have constant worries and to-do lists forming in your head. You forget everything.

Music baths have helped me get through a lot of my anxieties. They may not be for everybody- some simply can’t turn off the mind- and I totally get it. It took me a while to get to a point to shut everything down and just let go.

music is a safe kind of high

That’s exactly what music makes me do; let go. I find myself not planning the next house project, or thinking of what cleaning needs to be done. I completely let go. Bon Iver has gotten me through my roller coaster of negativity. The music literally makes me melt. Especially when I can turn it up as loud as I can – one of the things I look forward to most about summer- nobody around to annoy with my volume!

I forget I have scans. I forget I have blood work. I forget I can’t get pregnant. I forget negativity. I forget I have cancer. Music makes me high, happy, and calm.

music speaks what cannot be expressed. soothes the mind and gives it rest. heals the heart and makes it whole

[…] July can’t come soon enough. I will probably be a bawl-bag when Bon Iver takes the stage. My music baths & multiple blog posts about their music has guided me through dark tunnels the past couple […]
