so I changed my mind

the in-between

I have definitely eaten my words. I am happy I am a teacher. My students surprise me in ways I never thought possible.

I changed the direction in my ending unit, and couldn’t be happier. My students are going to be teaching mini lessons to the rest of the class on topics we have covered throughout the year. I grouped students randomly, (obviously keeping in mind trouble makers – have to split those rascals up), and I could have been moved to tears watching them work.

I saw leaders emerge that have been sitting in the quiet shadows the past 7 months. I saw successful collaboration between students who have never muttered a word to one another. I saw smiles and high fives between two students who previously fought in the lunch room.

It was beautiful. A day where I feel I am definitely doing something right.
